Prevent iPhone from being shut down so that "Find My" can track it easily

The iPhone 12 and newer will continue to be trackable even when shut down via the find my network so long as the battery has power.

Requiring a passcode to shut down the device has been suggested many times and is a bad idea for a number of reasons, not the least of which is it would make forcibly rebooting the phone in case of a problem. virtually impossible.

This idea has been suggested for many years. Apple has not incorporated it.....for reasons known to Apple. One of them might be that it is not a good idea.

But after many years perhaps Apple will change their thinking when they see that it is you who provided the feedback.

That said, I too am in the “disagree camp” as well.

Not only for the reasons already posted … but pragmatically-speaking … a thief will ALWAYS be able to inhibit tracking.

So, given that assumption AND the other replies … it might seem that the only person “inhibited” by your suggested solution would be the phone’s owner.

Just my 2-cents.
