Moving photos from one album to another. (Yes, again.)

This is a well trodden subject, but I think it bears repeating.

I get that my main photo roll contains all my photos & that moving them to another folder creates an alias of the original. No problem with that in principal.

The problem comes with not having any way of knowing at a glance which photos have & haven't been moved to other folders.

My wife has many thousands of photos on her photo roll that she likes to organise into folders. A lot of them are of plants & landscapes, etc. Sets of architectural photos for work, random photos of our dog, etc. etc. I think she also has it set so that all of her WhatsApp photos are added to her camera roll.

The thing is, it's just not that easy to see at a glance, the way you might with "oh, this is where my holiday snaps start & this is where they end". Add to that, the fact that it takes many hours to sort photos & the process is ongoing over many days & weeks & you have a logistical nightmare.

Her solution is to add all the photos that need sorting (because many don't) into a TO BE SORTED folder and, as I'm sure we're all aware, it's not possible to then move those photos into the correct other folder without then going back & deleting them from the first folder.

So, firstly, some indication that a photo from the main camera roll has been to another folder would be helpful. (Maybe a little ••• which, when you click on it gives you the option to see the photo in its destination folder (or list of destination folders if it's in more than one).

When photos (or rather instances/aliases of photos) are to be moved from one folder to another, a move or copy choice would be appropriate.

Small clarification: In Photos the images go into Albums, not folders. Folders may contain albums, or other folders, but not images directly. I assume that when you use folder you mean Album.

A smart album is the solution here.

File -> New Smart Album -> with the conditions

Album -> is not -> Any

This will find photographs not already sorted into albums. As you add the images to albums they will be dropped from this smart album as they no longer match the search criteria
