How to ensure no more duplicate payments on my account

There were two (2) identical payments processed on my account. Only one (1) payment was authorized. How do I correct this error and insure that duplicate payments are not processed in the future?

It’s also possible the merchant accidentally billed you twice. I have a restaurant I eat at frequently and about once a month I have a duplicate charge. Occasionally the restaurant put the charge through twice when they close the batch for the night. It happens, human error.

Occasionally, the merchants PSP (Payment Service Provider) duplicates a charge. Again, glitches happen. Duplicate charges can happen for various reasons with any card.

Certain kinds of transactions can be configured to allow additional charges. It’s typically called a multi-part transaction. There are multiple industries that this can be done. Rental cars is one and it doesn’t surprise me that ride sharing is another. This is covered in Ubers terms & conditions, I’m sure. For example, what if a passenger damaged the driver’s vehicle? Uber has to have a way to recover certain costs. Please contact Uber for assistance and clarification with your concerns.

I’m talking about my Apple Pay card in my Apple Wallet. The monthly payment was set up to pay the monthly payment. Two (2) separate but identical payments processed out of my bank account. I finally found a number for Apple Pay with Goldman Sachs. The representative was nice and courteous but unable to reverse the duplicate payment.

This same thing (duplicate payments) just happened to me and it is the second time it has happened. Customer service was terrible either a Bot or someone who could not type in English very well. I understand there is nothing that can be done in this forum but Apple’s name is on the card. They should do something about this problem as it is the second time it’s happened. Thinking about ditching the card.
