You used to be able to sort albums on the iphone by newest first, but it doesnt seem to be available any more?
The option to sort is not offered under the Albums ellipsis (or if it is, I cant find it!)

You can still sort the photos in an album, but you can only rearrange the list of albums manually by dragging the albums into the order you want.

it still doesn’t work. I suspect it’s because my albums are syncd from my computer via iTunes, rather than created on the iphone.
there does not seem to be any way to control the sort order of those folders, which is very annoying.
Photos synced with iTunes or the Finder are very limited.
Only if you switch to syncing with iCloud Photos you will have the full functionality.
