The phone charger shows the green circle indicating charging, but within a minute stops charging - I have disconnected the power cable, and confirmed that my phone charges using the standard charger cable. The apple watch wireless charger part works well. Any advice?
Based on what you provided in your post, it may be possible that this device may be defective. If you purchased it directly from Apple, and within the last 14 days, you can return it for either a full refund or a replacement. If after then, you can still have an Apple technician examine it for any manufacturing defects.
What I'm not 100% sure on is, whether or not, Apple's 1-year hardware warranty is valid with non-Apple products ... even if they are sold at the Apple Store.
