I’ve been pondering for a while now if I should buy a hard case/soft case (clear case) for my macbook because I’m afraid it might fall for some reason. But I’m afraid that it’ll overheat. Should I buy a case?

Your concern is valid. Buy a computer backpack or soft sleeve to use when transporting your compuyer.
Many of the shell cases I looked at on Amazon do have ventilation slots on the bottom side...but some don't. If you think you need to have this kind of case, just be sure it doesn't block anything.
Personally, I'd go with Bob's suggestion and pick up a sleeve for your MBA to use when transporting it.
