softwareupdate --fetch-full-installer --full-installer-version 10.14.6
It will place a copy of the installer in your Applications folder and you can use that to create a bootable installer.

Hi picas I finally discovered a much worse problem was the cause of my issue, my disc is damaged with a S.M.A.R.T error message oh dear I think I won’t find a replacement for the old iMac disc.
