I’d like to turn on the flash for a standard photo and maybe the AI thinks it knows better. Has this facility been removed?

Camera Flash and Shutter Out of Sync Has anyone experienced this with iPhone 14? I turn on the flash, but when I take my picture, the flash fires, but the photo doesn't actually take right away. By the time the camera engages the flash is done firing and I still end up with a shadow. On my iPhone 7, I could turn on my flash and take a picture in any lighting and it would remove shadows from lighting behind me. Attached are pictures with flash off and on. You can see the difference is minimal. This is really bothering me and any help would be greatly appreciated.

Burst mode with using timer Using the timer (3 or 10 seconds, no difference) my iPhone 14Pro with 17.2.1 when taking a photo, makes a burst of 10 photo's. I cannot find any setting for this (should you not want this). Why should you always have to discard 9 photo's just to use the one? Apple support says it's standard always on burst and cannot be changed. Why would you want this? The only way around it is to use the flash. When that is "on" it only takes one picture (thanks Patricia666). Reading back in this community, there is confusion all around. So for the random yes-or-no bursts, the answer is in the use of the flash, sometimes it's on, sometimes it's not. Please Apple, make it a choice if you want to use the burst or not when using the timer....

Probably you may have selected Flash in Auto Mode. Please see the pic below iOS 16.4.1 iPhone 12 Pro
