Connect MBP M1 (thunderbolt 4) to 2012 MBP (thunderbolt 2) for file transfer (thunderbolt 2 to 4)

I want to connect MPB m1 with 2012 MBP, which has thunderbolt 2, to transfer files from old laptop to new. I'm looking at the Caldigit thunderbolt 4 hub. Is this possible with that hub, or via any other means? Many thanks!

Apple makes a Thunderbolt 3-to-2 adapter.

Thunderbolt 3 (USB-C) to Thunderbolt 2 Adapter - Apple

If you enable IP-over-Thunderbolt on both computers, and turn on File Sharing on the older Mac, you might be able to access its drive as a network volume on the new Mac (after the new Mac is set up).

There is Thunderbolt Target Disk Mode – but I don't know if it works in the direction you need when one of the Macs is an Apple Silicon Mac. (If it did, you might be able to use the older Mac as a source disk for Migration Assistant.)

Hi,

I think it's hard to get Thunderbolt4 to Thunderbolt2 adapter. I'm using Thunderbolt4 to USB3.0 adapter which little bit slow, if you compare Thunderbolt 4 to Thunderbolt2, though it's inexpensive and works.
