Dig out, barrow, buy an inexpensive USB keyboard and mouse to get the Mac mini setup, then pair your wireless keyboard and mouse.
I keep around an extra Logitech MK120 keyboard and mouse for trouble-shooting and daily use in some cases.

Also if the wireless keyboard and mouse are Apple products then you can connect the lightning cable to it and the Mac and use them.
Thank you for your help. My Mac keyboard is the earlier one without any option of attaching a usb cable to it. With the help f wired kb n wireless mouse I can now use my Mac kb but while my mouse shows as connected it’s not working. Any advise on sorting this issue out? Tia :)
Thank you. I did borrow a kb n mouse and now my Mac wireless kb is working. But the Mac mouse pointer does not move or scroll despite showing as connected. Any advise to sort this out? Tia :)
Since you said the mouse is old perhaps the rollerball is gummed up. Try turning the mouse upside down and physically moving the rollerball switch and see if the cursor moves on your screen. If it does then just a good cleaning is needed.
