I have already tried deleting and reinstalling the Mail App on my iphone but there is no "mail" setting in settings.

On iPhone (and iPad), apps have their semi-permanent settings in the Settings app, for things that are mostly configure-once. The app and its settings are detached that way in the UI. That is how iOS works.
Once you get used to it, it becomes second nature.

Ok, "Mail" is not listed in the Apps List, but has its own special place near the top of the settings list. "How Special".
But the issue was finding the settings for mail. To me “Mail” is an App, just like any other email program, but Apple places “Mail” settings outside the list of apps.
