New Magic Mouse won't connect to IMac

I purchased a new Magic Mouse yesterday and tried everything and can't get it to connect. I am now using an old BT5.1 now. I had borrowed a magic mouse from a friend, (an old one), and it worked well for a month then started now 'waking up' and now won't wake at all. Changed batteries, Cleaned it, Nada, nada, nada. So I purchased a new one.

Try this:

Remove Bluetooth '.plist files'

Bluetooth on your Mac is still not working properly? Then you can also delete the temporary bluetooth files from macOS. These are automatically reinstalled upon reboot. Reinstalling these files may resolve issues. You do this as follows.

Open the Finder;
Click on your MacBook or iMac under 'locations' in the left column;
Click on Macintosh HD > Library > Preferences;
In the window, find the file 'com.apple.Bluetooth.plist';
Delete the file, enter your password where necessary to confirm your choice;
Shut down your Mac and wait a few moments for it to start up again.
