Ipad cannot connect to mac SMB

ipad OS 16.5.1

mac os 13.4.1

I have configured "file sharing" on my mac, entered the user password to be stored locally as advised and my ipad cannot connect to mac when using "file" app then connect to server" ... I have stopped firewall completely on the mac, same result, stopped completely cloudflare warp same result ... it looks like the smb server is either not answering at all or some setup is not donne correctly ... any idea of a track to investigate ???

same issue when I try to connect to the mac from VLC on apple TV 4K ... the smb server announce itself (the mac is announced in the list of available smb servers) but connection does not work
