GPU Panic waking from sleep

For context, I have a 2019 16" MacBook pro that MY COMPANY PROVIDED ME (This is VERY important because it means I don't have administrator access nor I can take the computer to an Apple Retailer) and it is the second laptop they've given me that experiences this issue.

This doesn't start happening until I've finished installing all my work tools.

I can't be too specific because many of the tools I use are in-house tools made by our company or clients however, I'd like to know if there is a way I can determine what process is causing this failure by reading the logs.

Worth noting, in my project we have a shared 13" MacBook pro with the exact same Ventura 13.4.1 MacOS version and running without this issue, and as far as I know no one else in my company has reported this issue (I asked on Slack on our Mac users group).

The company will gift me this laptop once it's retired in a few months, so I'd really like to fix this issue if possible.

Seems to point to incompatible software you have installed...

To trouble shoot further you can:

—A SafeBoot Use safe mode on your Mac - Apple Support will sort many anomalies

Does a quick disk repair before it fully boots up, and certain system caches get cleared and rebuilt, third party system modifications and system accelerations are disabled.

Login and test. Reboot as normal and test. Caches get rebuilt automatically.

This test will tell you if third party interference; most* extensions etc are not loaded in safe boot mode.

—Test issue in another user (or guest user) account Change Users & Groups settings on Mac - Apple Support

This will tell you if it a universal issue or isolated to your user/admin account.

unplug all third party peripherals to test

Uninstall all third party apps that are Cleaners/Optimizers/VPN/Anti-Virus

all known to cause issues on the macOS

if no insight or resolve—

you can get a good look at your User/System config. and reveal conflicts or issues, you can download/run this trusted utility https://etrecheck.com

If you need help interpreting the report you can post it here in its entirety in the "Additional Text" box in the editing toolbar below, in your reply.

Do you disconnect the external devices (especially the displays) before you put the laptop to sleep? If not, try disconnecting the external devices first, then put the laptop to sleep.

Do you have this issue with waking the laptop from sleep if no external devices are connected?

Hopefully @leroydouglas is correct that it is a software issue, but I'm afraid it will be a hardware issue instead. Hopefully with the external displays or other external device, but it would not surprise me if the Logic Board on this laptop is bad. The 2019 MBPros seem to have a higher rate of Logic Board failures, especially the 16" models. I hope I am proven wrong for your sake.

You can try running the Apple Diagnostics to see if any hardware issues are detected, but the diagnostics rarely find hardware issues like this.

Sounds like third party software is a real possibility here. Seems like you should uninstall the most likely apps/drivers one at a time until you discover which one is at fault. Or perform a clean install and just install one app at a time until the issue recurs. Of course there is always a possibility that no single app/driver is at fault and it only occurs when two of the apps are installed together. I think it will be lots of trial and error to figure it out. If any anti-virus apps, cleaning/optimizer apps, or third party security software is installed, then you are definitely more likely to encounter Kernel Panics.

I guess the other consideration...if this has happened with another laptop, then was it the same model or a slightly different model? Like I mentioned, I've seen a lot more issues with the 2019 model (all variations) than any other model (2018 seems to have some issues as well, but we have fewer of them so not enough to claim anything for certain).

Hi! Thanks for answering!

Yes, I was suspecting there was incompatible software, but I just can't figure for the life of me which one it is (Because working in IT, I have to install *so many* things.

I did post most of my report, but the rest was just something like encrypted text (or that's what I think, random letters and numbers).

I don't have cleaners or optimizers, I do have Cisco AnyConnect (required for the company) and Sophos EndPoint (good ol' blocker).

All computers in the company have this though and I seem to be one of the only users having this issue.

Is there any way I could see what software is causing the issue?

Edit:

Also, I should clarify I only use this laptop at my office, with 2 USB hubs to connect 2 HDMI monitors and a USB mouse and Keyboard, however this error happens after the laptop goes to sleep (in my backpack) way after I've left work, so the error occurs with no devices connected to the laptop.

I did disconnect all external devices (two USB hubs only) and it still happens, it also happens when there's nothing connected at all.

I'm not sure it's a hardware issue because it only starts happening when I've fully set up the computer (installed all the software and stuff) I know it doesn't happen before because the first two days since I got the computer I only used it with the browser and nothing else and it never happened.

I did run the Apple Diagnostics but it came out all ok. It doesn't really bother me if it's a hardware issue because my company will just give me a new one instead, but since I get to keep the laptop after 2 years of service and this one's almost out, I'd rather be able to fix it before my company gifts it to me.

I do think third party software is the issue too, the other laptop I was given was also a MacBook Pro, but from 2018 (also 16").

I can't really go around deleting everything until I find out because I must use the laptop for work, my idea of this thread is to find out if there's any detailed log I could check to see what process is related to this crash, if that's a possibility? if not, I'll just have to go to Service Desk again and see if they can help find out what the issue is but it'll probably take a whole lot longer and need to borrow a different laptop in the mean time.
