Apple Watch 7 Screen quickly and repeatedly turns off

My apple watch 7 repeatedly off turns off its screen. The watch is set for Always On and both the watch and my iPhone 14 have the current iOS. I have turned both the watch and the iPhone off and then on again. None of that helps. What should I do?

Hey there GrandPaul from Los Altos,

Thanks so much for using Apple Support Communities.

There are a couple reasons that your Apple Watch display might be turning off, even with the Always On display being active. We'll share some information below that you can look into and hopefully this will do the trick.

  1. Check if Theater Mode is enabled in the Control Center, as that feature will keep the screen dark until you tap it: Use Control Center on your Apple Watch - Apple Support
  2. Low Power Mode will turn off the Always On feature, so double check that isn't enabled: Use Low Power Mode on your Apple Watch - Apple Support
  3. Always On relies on Wrist Detection being enabled in Settings > Passcode, so make sure that this feature is enabled there.

We hope that this information is helpful.

Have a great day!
