With FaceTime calls working as expected, it doesn't sound like an issue with the microphone. To make sure all bases have been covered, start with the following steps to see if they help resolve this:

• Ensure both your Apple Watch and paired iPhone are fully updated. Updates can help by installing bug fixes and include security updates. If updates are needed, be sure to back up first.
  • Update your iPhone or iPad - Apple Support
  • Update your Apple Watch - Apple Support
• After updating the software, check for a carrier update and install it: Manually update your carrier settings on your iPhone or iPad - Apple Support
• Restart both your Apple Watch and paired iPhone for fresh connections:
  • Restart your iPhone - Apple Support
  • Restart your Apple Watch - Apple Support

If you still have an issue, let us know more to help:

• Does this happen with all phone calls you make and receive on your Apple Watch, or only some?
• If you're using headphones do you notice this behavior?
