Recent locations in calendar app not updating

When I create a new event in the Apple calendar app and I go to set the location for the event, there is a section on that page that shows “recent” locations that it recommends for you. The problem is that this section doesn’t appear to have changed at all in over two years. It still shows location options from when I was working in a different city, it also shows addresses from contacts I have since deleted.

I’ve experienced this for a while through several iterations of iOS updates, and it has been persist an issue that I’ve been dealing with up till now. Since this has been happening for a couple of years, I have factory reset my phone at least once since then, but the issue has persisted.

It just hasn’t been that big of a deal for me until recently. Unfortunately, one of the first addresses that shows up is my ex girlfriend’s home address with her name listed on the address. I don’t even have her contact info anymore. I definitely don’t want my current girlfriend to see that and get the wrong idea if she were ever to see that in my phone.

There doesn’t appear to be an option to remove these recommendations. I have gone back through my previous calendar appointments and deleted all previous events with her address in them, but it made no difference. Is there anything I can do here?

Hi Packy27,

Welcome to Apple Support Communities. You can remove the locations that appear for "Recents" in the Calendar app. When you create a new event in the Calendar app and tap on "Location or Video Call" Recents will appear. Underneath "Recents" you'll see a list of locations. What you'll need to do is swipe left and tap on Delete. This will remove that location from appearing again. Keep in mind these steps are with the latest update of iOS 16.5.1 for an iPhone. You'll want to make sure that you have the latest update installed and you can verify that by going to Settings > General > Software Update. If an update is available, you can follow the prompts to install it.

We look forward to hearing back from you with an update.

Kind regards.
