I’m trying to crop a set of scanned pages. I set up shortcuts to do the left and right pages from each image:
What I expect to happen, is that it will crop each selected image and save it in the folder “Left” (in this example). What actually happens is that I get a file dialog that lets me select a single file that it will crop and save. What am I doing wrong?
First, in the "Receive" action, click "Show more" (top left) to allow multiple selection. Then add a Repeat action to loop through all selected files (in this example, the files are saved to the "Shortcuts" folder) :

I just realized that you may not want to use this Shortcut as a Quick Action in Finder but just as a Shortcut you run yourself from the Shortcuts app. In this case, use the "Select File" action and disable the Quick Action in the informations page of the shortcut :
