Greyed out files in application folder MacBook Air 2015 Ventura

I was reinstalling OS Monterey on a USB Flash Drive onto a MB Air to ready it for sale and since then every Flash drive I install collects two very small files - fseventsd-uuid & Spotlight-V100. Not such a bad problems as I can throw these away but he applications folder on the MB Air I inserted them into now has a stack of greyed out icons which Disk Utility cannot repair or restore. I figure the initial cause was an incomplete installation of the OS Monterey but would appreciate a fix for the MacBook Air and the flash drives if there is one other than a paid app. Thanks

FWIW, your post is confusing. Ventura is not supported by Apple on a 2015 MBA.
