MacBook Air (M2, 2022)
If it's truly a new 15" MacBook Air, it has a notch at the middle top of the screen. This is where the camera is located, FYI.
The 13" MacBook Air with the M1 processor does not have a notch.
Both the 13" MacBook Air M2 and 15" MacBook Air M2 models do have the notch.
Here you can see all three MacBook Airs: MacBook Air - Apple
Note this is not a notch in the laptop itself...it's simply a portion of the upper middle part of the screen where the camera is.
It sure seems to me like some kind of system setting add-in (third party) at work here. But you're saying you don't have anything like that installed, which is why I'm at a loss.
(Honestly can't understand why anyone would be THAT bothered by the notch to develop anything that "shrinks" the screen to avoid it...but maybe that's just me.)
I agree. I also removed TinkerTool after reversing any changes that were made with it (allegedly). I can't see any other app that might interfere with the display or Menu bar. I've also tried several display settings (profiles) to no avail.
🤔
Yeah I don't buy it either Mike. But it really seems odd that Apple would try to blow me off with "just tell the guy that there are a few without the Notch. He'll never know the difference". 😬
I suspect that someday after an update the Notch will appear. Very odd.
Right you are of course. The Notch is back in all its glory. There are many resolutions that obscure the Notch and that expose it.
Thanks for pointing that out HDT. What about the Apple "engineer" filling my little head with lies about "some screens don't have the Notch "? Disgraceful, eh what?
Thanks again! 🙂
It's a brand new 15" MB Air.
Sure. And thanks for the reply BTW.

Thanks Mike. I don't miss the notch. Just curious.
Yep. I've encountered those while trying to figure out what's going on with my MB.
The camera is visible in the top "bezel" (black bar). As I mentioned it's just curious.
Here's a screenshot of a new user:
Yep. And it appears that the notch is in what appears to be the top bezel as Mike says.
You can see the camera (green light) in that top area.
Apple engineers tell me that there are some versions without the "notch" and I have one. Sounds fishy to me but that's the story. Thanks for your interest.

I would Mike but I live on the Western Slope in Colorado and the nearest Apple Store is 255 miles away. Fortunately UPS and FEDEX have some mules that come this way when the passes are clear.
Pony Express doesn't service your address, Jim? :)
