magic mouse 2 connected but not working

I have a magic mouse 2 I've been using with a 14 MBP M1 Max 13.4.1 and previously with my old 2017 MBP i7. It was getting erratic but turning it off and on normally fixed it. yesterday it was really erratic, only the click or scroll would work and power cycling gave me only a little working time.

Today eventually I have nothing, no click, no scroll not movement.

I have researched and tried a bunch of stuff, cycling bluetooth on and off, rebooting my mac, forgetting the mouse and reconnecting via the lightning cable and still it's dead.

I tried it on my Mini M2 it has never been connected to and while it connected fine via lightning it won't work there so I assume it's dead, since a lot of the glitches described online seem to be specific to the primary mac.

It's version, 1.9.2 battery is at 97%.

I would love to reset it but every technique I have found online doesn't work with this setup, always has the same name when reconnecting, even renaming it and forgetting it and "resetting" the MM2 (with the click and hold and power cycle) nothing changes.

Hey there VWTick,

Thanks for reaching out to the Apple Support Communities.

To get started, you've done a great job with troubleshooting the issue beforehand. Going forward, while there isn't a way to reset your Magic Mouse have you had an opportunity to work through all the steps listed in the following resource: If you can't connect your Magic Keyboard, Magic Mouse, or Magic Trackpad to your Mac - Apple Support

While we understand your Magic Mouse is able to connect, the steps above could help with troubleshooting other issues as well.

If still having issues after the steps above, and because the Magic Mouse is not working on multiple devices, is possible that the issue could be hardware related. If that's the case, the best option would be to reach out to Apple Support directly from the next link to look into possible service options: Apple Support

We hope that's able to help.

Have a great day.
