There could be a few possible explanations:

  1. Previous Permissions: It's possible that you had previously granted Safari permission to access contacts, and the app is still able to access them based on the previous authorization. You can check the app permissions in your device's settings and revoke any unnecessary access.
  2. iCloud Sync: If you have iCloud enabled on your device and contacts syncing is turned on, Safari might be able to access contacts indirectly through iCloud. In such cases, Safari may be able to retrieve contact information from your iCloud account even if direct access is not granted.
  3. Third-Party App Integration: Safari may have integrated with a third-party app or service that has access to your contacts. In such cases, the third-party app could be retrieving contact information and providing it to Safari.
  4. Cross-Platform Syncing: If you are using Safari on multiple devices with the same iCloud account, it's possible that contact syncing is enabled on another device. Contacts from that device might be available to Safari through iCloud syncing.

To troubleshoot the issue, you can try the following steps:

  1. Check Safari Settings: Open Safari settings on your device and ensure that autofill is disabled and there are no saved passwords or credit cards that may inadvertently access contacts.
  2. Review App Permissions: Go to your device's settings, find the Safari app, and check the permissions granted to it. Revoke any unnecessary permissions related to contacts.
  3. Disable iCloud Contacts Sync: If you have iCloud contacts syncing enabled, you can try turning it off to prevent Safari from accessing contacts indirectly through iCloud.
  4. Remove Third-Party App Integration: If you suspect that a specific third-party app is involved, review its settings and disable any contact-related permissions or integrations.

If the issue persists or you require further assistance, it may be helpful to contact Apple Support or consult the support resources specific to your device and operating system version for more detailed guidance.
