Your Mac hardware determines your upgrade path from Catalina, if there is one. Your System Preferences : Software Update will likely offer the last operating system upgrade your hardware can support.

Select Apple () menu : About This Mac, and on that panel is a product description line. Within that line is year and model information for your Mac in parenthesis. Compare that content with:

macOS Big Sur is compatible with these computers - Apple Support

macOS Monterey is compatible with these computers - Apple Support

macOS Ventura is compatible with these computers - Apple Support

The last operating system where your product description is supported is the end of line for upgrade path, and operating systems older than the current Ventura can be obtained from the Mac App Store via:

How to download and install macOS - Apple Support

If you get that far, you should perform a last Time Machine backup before commencing the upgrade, and have verified that your printer/scanner/multi-vendor still provides driver support for your device if not shown as supported in Apple's built-in AirPrint when networked. AirPrint does not require vendor driver support.
