You can change your current account to have no payment method.

Remove a payment method on your Mac

1. Open the App Store.
2. Click your name or the Sign In button.
3. Click Account Settings.
4. Next to Payment Information, click Manage Payments. (If you're using an older version of macOS, click Edit next to Payment Type.)
5. Click Edit, then click Remove Payment Method.

That isn't clear.

I'm going to guess you have at least one subscription through the App Store. If that's the case, then no, you can't remove the payment method. You'd have to cancel and remove all subscriptions first.
