Apple TV border router

Is 2022 Apple TV 128gb capable of being a thread border router by itself or does it need another device?

For example in my setup I had an Apple TV 2022, 128 gb and a HomePod mini. No eve energy plugs.

My smart blinds with thread connected to thread just fine. I even got a thread status shown in the app.

Well the HomePod mini starting acting up so I took it out of HomeKit. However, my thread devices disconnected. I thought the Apple TV was a thread border router like the HomePod. Just looking for answers. TIA.

Hi quionjay,

The Apple TV doesn't function as a Thread Border Router. You can find information on Apple TV here: Apple TV User Guide

You mentioned that your HomePod mini wasn't working as expected. If you haven't done so yet, try restarting it with these steps: If HomePod or HomePod mini isn't responding

Although simple, restarting devices can correct some unexpected behavior.

Restart HomePod or HomePod mini

1. Open the Home app on your iPhone, iPad, or Mac that's signed in with the Apple ID that you used to set up HomePod.
2. Tap or click HomePod.
3. Scroll down, or tap or click the Settings icon  and scroll down.
4. If you have two HomePod speakers set up as a stereo pair, select Restart HomePod. If your HomePod speaker is not set up as a stereo pair, select Reset HomePod, then select Restart HomePod.

If you don't see an option to restart your HomePod, unplug it from power, then plug it back in and try again.

If HomePod still doesn't respond, reset it.

If the issue continues, reply with some additional details on what's happening with it.

Regards.
