Multiple names for same person

Following up to this question:

"In Photos I have many people tagged. Between typos & trying to match names in Contacts, I have many people who are listed multiple times. In trying to clean that up, I have attempted to edit names, but am finding mixed success. It's not clear to me which name I should consolidate to. Any tips or tricks on how to prevent this from being a frustrating exercise that I can't seem to complete?"

^^^ I am replying to this post. I have the same problem but I am using Photos version 1.5. What should I do to make each person have on ONE identity when I go to "Add faces?"

In the most recent versions of Photos you could simple merge the multiple albums for the same person by dragging one album for the person on top of another album. Do this until you have only one album for each person left. I am not sure, if it worked this way also in your very early version of Photos, but give it a try. Once you have only one album for each person left, try to change the name to the name on the contacts card.

But don't try too hard to change the name. In the earlier versions of Photos it has not been possible to get rid of the many failed attempts to assign a name. The more you try the longer the list of names with typos will get, that you are seeing when you are starting to type the name. This list of failed attempts to type the name can only be cleared by creating a new Photos Library, as it is stored in the Photos Library.
