Notification not disappearing

Why notifications don't disappear from my iPhone when the related app has been checked?

Apple notifications are such a mess. There's no consistency and it just makes zero sense to me. Different app notifications behave completely differently. For example, all of my app notification settings are the same (set to banner, and temporary) but:

WhatsApp - notifications will only disappear once you open the app on each device

Instagram - notifications remain whether you open the app or not. You have to click each notification to clear.

Outlook - I'll deal with emails on my Macbook and iMac but I'll have a sea of notifications on my iPhone regardless

I end up with a sea of notifications at the end of the day which I have to spend time clearing, and inevitably will end up clearing an important one accidentally during the process.

Maybe I've been spoilt by the Android notifications in the past. But I'm really struggling to keep on top of notifications after moving to iPhone.

Hello _Ayush_Jaiswal,

Could you elaborate more on what you mean the notifications aren't disappearing after you've checked them?

On iPhone:

  1. Open Settings
  2. Tap on Notifications
  3. Scroll down and tap the app in question
  4. Tap on Banner Style

Make sure Temporary is selected. If Persistent is selected, the notification will stay until you swipe it away.

Check out the View, dismiss, clear, and mute notifications section - View and respond to notifications on iPhone - Apple Support

I hope this helps!
