camera glitch - continuously toggles lens

Got my phone at the same time as my wife and hers doesn’t do that. What happens is when I sometimes try to take a picture or video the camera does this continuous toggle between the lenses and does not work or stabilizes for me to take the picture. Is this hardware or software?Camera glitch

Hi Wanaii,

If you haven't done so yet, restart your iPhone. Although simple, this step can help correct some unexpected issues. It's also a good idea to make sure your iPhone is running the latest iOS version, since this can help with overall performance: Update your iPhone or iPad If an update is available, be sure to create a backup before installing it.

Update your iPhone or iPad wirelessly

1. Back up your device using iCloud or your computer.
2. Plug your device into power and connect to the internet with Wi-Fi.
3. Go to Settings > General, then tap Software Update.
4. If you see more than one software update option available, choose the one that you want to install.
5. Tap Install Now. If you see Download and Install instead, tap it to download the update, enter your passcode, then tap Install Now. If you don't know your passcode, learn what to do.

If the issue continues, these steps may be helpful: If the camera or flash on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch isn't working

Regards.

Hi Wanaii,

Per the article included in the last reply, should the other steps listed fail to address the camera issue the next option is:

"Contact Apple Support

If the camera or flash still isn't working properly, contact Apple Support to discuss service options."

If you've completed those other steps including the ones under "If you want to try more steps on your own" and this continues, seeking hardware service for your iPhone is recommended.

Regards.

I appreciate the response and I agree useful except when trying to capture a moment that only lasts seconds and then you miss recording or taking a photo of an important event in your life. I need to know if this is a recurring common issue for this phone and what Apple is doing to correct this. It has been ongoing randomly for months now so it is not specific to one version and has not been fixed by new releases.
