Citrix desktop switching

Ive been using Citrix for the past couple of years to work remotely and using my desktop mac (ventura 13.4.1) and logging on via Google chrome and had no issues. Recently however when I log into Citrix, my Mac automatically switches back to the desktop. I can toggle back but it switches back again. Im assuming this is due to ventura, as my macbook operating on Catalina doesnt do this. Not sure if anyone has encountered this problem? It seems like something in the Mac is over-riding the workspace and taking me back to the Mac interface as there appears nothing in Citrix to force this behaviour. In Mission control I have allowed switching and each display to have separate spaces.
