JVC GZ-MS120 files to iphone

Hello, I recently started using my parents old JVC GZ-MS120 to record videos, however I'm not able to import those videos onto my iPhone.

With my old digital camera that I recently started using again, I was just able to put the SD card into THIS SD card reader that plugged right into my iPhone so I could import. But when I put the SD card with a video file from my JVC, nothing shows up on my iPhone or when I put that same SD card into my digital camera.

When I record from the JVC, I'm able to re watch the video within the JVC video camera, but I just don't know a more modern way to get that video off of the video camera and onto my iPhone or Mac.

Does anyone have any experience or tips here?

Thank you!

That seems to be a video camera from around 2009, that recorded in now-shocking SD resolution. Apart from nostalgia, it doesn’t seem very usable in 2023.

Video seems to get stored in an interlaced MPEG-2 MP@ML MOD format (quite similar to DVD).

These files will need to be converted before being useable on iPhone, which likes progressive scan MP4 files. That conversion and deinterlacing seems best done on a computer as intermediate device.
