Music app plays a different song than clicked on?

I have a new studio m2 Mac, I moved my older music library the Mac as I have many songs that are not on the cloud?

An example a playlist I created that has tracks I loaded into iTunes from HD tracks does not store in cloud.

So I transferred the music folder to my new Mac and authorized the iTunes.

Now I will click on a song and it will randomly scroll down and start playing a different song?

I tried with a fresh library and it does not do this behavior yet much of my music is non purchased from Apple Music and does not show up on the new library as expected. Did not have this problem on my previous intel Mac?

Hey radman,

Welcome to Apple Support Communities. It sounds like some of your music was purchased or downloaded elsewhere and some was added using Apple Music. Is that right? If so, enabling Sync Library on you rMac can help your music sync with Apple Music which may give you a more seamless listening experience. Try the following which is from Use Sync Library to access your music library across your devices - Apple Support

"How to turn on Sync Library on your Mac

  1. Open the Apple Music app.
  2. In the menu bar, choose Account and make sure that you're signed in with the same Apple ID that you use with your Apple Music subscription.
  3. Choose File > Library > Organize Library. Then select Consolidate files.
  4. Choose Music > Settings or Music > Preferences.
  5. Click the General tab.
  6. Select Sync Library.
  7. Click Ok.
  8. Wait for your music library to sync. To check the status, go to the bottom of the sidebar and click Updating Cloud Library.
  9. Turn on Sync Library on your other devices."

All the best.

I tried to perform the Sync Library on your Mac steps above, but when I did step #3, I got an error message,

"Copying Files Failed. An Unknown Error Occurred (-54)." Any suggestions to resolve this issue, which is the Music app on my Macbook M3 Pro (brand new) plays a different song than the one I clicked on in my Songs list.

Most of my tunes reside on an external Passport drive. All working fine when I purchased the machine 6 months ago. Now Music can't find the selected song, which problem began about a month ago; i.e., April-May 2024. Thank you.
