Why does my iPhone 14 Pro Camera Freeze?

Why does my iPhone 14 Pro Camera Freeze?

My iPhone 14 is on iOS 16.5.1. camera randomly stops saving images to the camera roll and the app will 'freeze' when I open and attempt to use the camera.

most times it has a delay opening and focusing on an object. When I take a picture, the image does not save to the camera roll, nor does it appear in the lower left of the camera screen (an older image is displayed). I rebooted the iPhone, verified I have the latest software, verified I have sufficient storage space, and done extensive research online without resolution. Please help me with any tips on how to resolve a camera issue.

iPhone had dual sim ( one physical and one esim ). Turning off both data streams seemed to work, but having a phone with no calling seems a bit silly. Turning off the physical sim and using just esim didn’t seem to fix issue. Visa versa didn’t work either. Seems to me the processor was just managing network traffic (not connected to any Wi-Fi).

esim was running 5G with full bar strength with around 80+ Gbits/s.

50 people reported the same issue on Phone 14 Pro Max Camera with IOS 16.3.1 but resolution was not answered and conversation was closed in Jan 2023.

any help would be appreciated.

"Remove case, accessory, or film and test

  1. Remove any case, accessory, or film that might block the camera or flash or that places a magnet near the camera.
  2. Test the camera by trying to take a photo.
  3. Test the LED flash:
    1. Try the flashlight in Control Center on your iPhone or Control Center on your iPad. On an iPhone X or later or an iPad, swipe down from the upper-right corner of the screen. On an iPhone 8 or earlier, swipe up from the bottom edge of any screen.
    2. Tap the Flashlight button Flashlight icon.

If the flash works only sometimes, open the Camera app and tap the flash button   to choose a different setting.

If you want to try more steps on your own

If you prefer, here are some more steps you can try on your own if the camera isn't working. You might still need to contact Apple Support after following these steps.

  1. If the photo is blurry, clean the front and back camera lenses with a microfiber cloth. If you see dirt or debris inside the lens, damage to your iPhone near the camera, or if the camera lens appears to be misaligned or blocked, contact Apple Support to discuss service options.
  2. If you see motion blur in low-light situations and you use a lens converter, metallic case, or a magnetic lens mount, try removing the accessory.
  3. Restart your iPhoneiPad, or iPod touch.
  4. Update your iPhone to the latest version of iOS.
  5. Test the camera again by taking a photo. If your device has a front and rear camera, check if one or both aren't working. To switch cameras, tap the rotate button ."

We hope this helps.

Cheers!
