Why has the air video server and client app disappeared from Apple App Store? Is there somewhere else it can be downloaded?
i have it installed on my iPad 2, iPad 4 and iPad 8 and my wife has it installed on her 12.9" iPad Pro 5th gen.

It does still work, if you have purchased it then it will be in your purchase history in apps not on this device. I still use version 2.2.1 and use VLC 2.2.1 and works a dream still to this day, using it on IOS 17 but it wont play 265 files just upto 264. I have google share the server 2.2.1 air video exe if you want it but you will need to download the app
For getting the app on your current apple device
On my iPad I was able to get it installed by checking the "not on this ipad" section in the app store "purchased" area. I checked on an ios 17 and confirmed it works. Click on app store, then you name/logo in the top right and select apps, then select not on this iphone or not on this ipad to install the IOS app back onto your new device, if you havent purchased it and someone else has in your family use family sharing and do the same once setup

However if you purchased it originally you can still download the app from your purchased apps like I have on all my new devices
Apple removes applications that have been abandoned by the developer from the AppStore.
Since any issues with functionality and compatibility are the responsibility of the developer.
But it still worked quite well...and works even with the latest iOS. I would still pay a reasonable price as I am sure many others would.
What is available that essentially duplicates its function and capabilities?
The developer abandoned the app.
It hasn't been updated in around 2 years.
