Co-owners have equal rights and one co-owner cannot remove another co-owner. Once a co-owner removes themself, the account is closed for both parties and any balances must continue to be paid by both parties. Both co-owners are equally responsible for the entire account balance not just what they charged.
Once the co-owned account is closed, you’re welcome to reapply for an individual account. Closing an account will usually negatively affect your credit score.
