ITunes vs iPhone reset and restore

It has been a while since this issue has been addressed and with the new iOS 16.5.1 I have heard of several issues with apps locking out. After completing an iPhone erase and iCloud back up restore I was left with and enormous 47+ GB system data storage use that prohibited complete restoration.

1. Erase and restore via iCloud through iPhone continuously carried over system data of 47+ GB.
2. Spoke with Apple Support today and they indicate that reset via iPhone does not erase any system data and iTunes reset does.

I will try that tonight and see what the results are.
