It would help a lot if you explain why you need to add a hardware address to your router ... and whether that's a static IP address for the Airport or doing MAC address filtering.
But in the case of Apple routers (aka Airport Express & Extreme), you need to use Airport Utility. Do note, however, that Apple discontinued the Airport in 2018 and some later versions of Airport Utility do not work with certain older Airports.
