Time Machine Backup folder

Hello

My external Time Machine Drive is getting full. It has a folder 'Backups.backupdb' containing two subfolders, 'MacDeskTop' and 'MacDeskTop 2'.

'MacDeskTop 2' contains all the latest backups, 'MacDeskTop' contains old backups which I won't need, can I safely just delete it?

Many thanks

Hi Joe! Whatever you do don´t delete TM backups by yourself, and do avoid otherwise tinkering with the contents of a TM drive. That´s the best way to corrupt the drive and render it completely useless, losing all your backups and leaving you no option but to erase and re-format the drive and start all over again. I´ve been there, done that! Time Machine will automatically delete old backups safely on its own when its dedicated drive starts running out of space. Just leave TM alone! Cheers!
