Continuity camera with Mac Studio M2 Max = does not work!
I recently ordered a new M2 Max Mac Studio to replace my iMac. One of the features I was excited to use was continuity camera. But I simply could not get it to connect to my iPhone 12pro (up-to-date with iOS 16.5.1 and Ventura 13.4.1). The only way it would work was to connect it physically with a lightening camera. I tried all the suggested things you're supposed to try, and then contacted Apple Support. My case was escalated and I spent the next 90 minutes on the phone with an Apple support person. We completely wiped both the Studio and the iPhone clean, and still no luck. We also tried a different phone that was linked to a different Apple ID. Still no luck. At this point the support person didn't know what else to try and said my next option would be to send the Mac Studio back to Apple and order a replacement. With such a big investment I didn't want to risk having some sort of hardware issue that might give me further headaches down the line. So I ordered another new Mac Studio, waited another week or so for it to arrive, and when it did the first thing I tried was to use my iPhone as a camera (w/out a cable). And...no luck! The Studio simply does not recognize the iPhone camera unless it is connected via the lightening cable. I find it hard to believe that there was some sort of hardware issue with both brand new Studio computers. Also, my iPhone connected flawlessly to my 2019 iMac with continuity camera.
How many other people are having this same issue? Has anyone found any solutions? (and please don't list off all the normal solutions like: being on the same wifi network, same Apple ID, bluetooth on, checking the the right setting box in iOS, having phone locked and sitting near computer, etc. because I've tried them all). Using the cable to make the connection will work fine, but I feel like this feature simply does not work as advertised, and this is on one of their best new computers.
