Why do I have to install the 16.5.1??? I have an iPhone 8 Plus. Thus update gas nothing to do with my phone. An these updates end up messing up my phone at times.

I have a IPhone 8Plus. So why do I keep getting these update for the newer phone??? They sometimes mess my phone up.

You can skip the 16.5.1 update if you want....and you don't care about having the most up to date security for your phone.

But.....when you do decide to update again, all the updates that you have skipped will be included in the update that you choose, so you are not really "skipping" updates, you are simply postponing them.

An iPhone 8 Plus is not exactly "new". It was discontinued about 4 years ago.
