Can I stop a timer in another room?

I started a timer on the HomePod Mini in the kitchen. When it went off, I was in another room that also has a HomePod Mini and I tried to get it to turn off the timer in the kitchen HomePod by saying "Hey Siri, turn off the timer in the kitchen" and "Hey Siri, turn off the timer on the kitchen HomePod). But neither worked. I ended up having to step out of the shower and yell "Hey, Siri, turn off timer" - thankfully, Siri in the kitchen HomePod heard me.

Am I just phrasing my request incorrectly? Does anyone know if this is supposed to work?

That's not the case for me. To test your suggestion, I started a 5 minute timer on the HomePod Mini in the kitchen and then went to our bathroom and said "hey Siri, stop" to the HomePod Mini there. Siri responded "There's nothing to stop here". It didn't give me any options for stopping timers in other rooms.

I have 3 HomePod Minis - they're all on the latest version - 16.5. All the other devices on my home network are also on the latest versions of their respective OSs.

Just say “hey Siri, stop”. It will know which device needs shopping and asks “stop the kitchen? Or stop the iPhone, etc. then say “yes”. Any device (signed into the same Apple ID) can perform this task. I can ask my iPhone or watch, and it knows there’s a timer or alarm going off somewhere
