Apple does not explain the reasons why support is withdrawn and a device may be declared obsolete. However from my experience of the wider electronics industry the most common causes are either non-availability of parts from external suppliers, or simply a declining number of devices remaining in service so it becomes uneconomic to continue support.

Your Series 2 has seen a remarkably long career. Maybe it is time to give it the retirement it deserves and consider upgrading to a new Apple Watch.
