Apple Pencil Use

Can one draw with one Apple Pencil (2nd generation) while having a second pencil magnetically charging on the iPad Pro? If not, can the 2nd generation pencil be charged a different way (externally…not on the iPad) while using one pencil? Currently I have 2 of the first generation pencils and keep one on an external pencil charger while using a second pencil and just trade out if a charge is needed. I use them extensively I guess 😂

To my knowledge, you’ll not be able to simultaneously pair and use two Apple Pencils with your iPad. Docking the Pencil for charging triggers the pairing process.

While there are third-party inductive charging solutions for Apple Pencil that may allow you to charge a second generation Pencil in isolation - while using a different Pencil (after re-pairing with the host iPad) - there should be very little need for two Pencils.

It is generally recommended that a second generation Pencil is always docked with its host iPad whenever it is idle and not being actively used - as this will keep Pencil optimally charged and ready for use. Even a fully depleted Pencil can attain sufficient charge from a few seconds of charging for many minutes of use.
