Hi there almiraelmerene,

To confirm, does the trackpad feel different when you try to use it? Knowing this may help determine next steps for your MacBook Air.

Also, to isolate what might be causing this issue, there are a few steps you can take. To begin, you can see if a normal restart may help as it can refresh the macOS and help resolve unexpected issues. If needed, the information below from the following article shows how: Shut down or restart your Mac

"Restart your Mac

  • On your Mac, choose Apple menu  > Restart.
  • If you don’t want app windows that are open to reopen when your Mac restarts, deselect “Reopen windows when logging back in."

If restarting doesn't help, then you could also see if this happens when your MacBook Air is in macOS Recovery. We recommend this because macOS Recovery is a built-in recovery system for Mac devices. If the issue is happening in macOS Recovery, then this could be hardware related. Depending on which MacBook Air you have (Intel or Apple silicon), you can open the applicable link below for more information and steps on how to get into macOS Recovery:

Please let us know what happens after those steps or if you have any questions.

Take care.
