Mail issue

I recently purchased a MacBook Air. I added my gmail account. The Inbox was refreshed correctly. But the content (stored in mail folders other than the Inbox) created/ updated prior to 2022 are not showing up. I deleted and recreated the account, but no luck. I also tried to rebuild specific mail folders, but again no luck. When I login to gmail on Safari, I see all my emails prior to 2022.

I am not sure how to force the download of all content to the Mail app on my MacBook.
