You can initiate a transfer two ways. You can do a push transfer from your external savings account to your Apple Savings account. You external bank will need to verify you own your Apple Savings account. Typically this is done via the banks app or website. Once verified you can push funds to Apple Savings and pull funds from Apple Savings to your external account. This is typically free and takes 1 to 6 business days depending on weekends and holidays.
You may also verify your external account using an Apple Savings Specialist at Goldman Sachs. This requires a phone call and the specialist will set up a 3 way call with your external bank. Once verified, you can initiate transfers in the Wallet app. You’ll use the Wallet to pull funds from your external account and push funds to your external account.
A third way is to transfer funds from Apple Savings account to Apple Cash and then from Apple Cash to your external account. There are limits to the amount that may be transferred and Apple Cash account must be verified.
Why all the verification? Federal banking regulations to try to stop money laundering, terrorism etc.
