If the phone got wet, it damaged the phone. Electronics and liquid are not good friends. You'll need to schedule an appointment at your Apple Store Genius Bar for evaluation and options. But if it did sustain liquid damage, be prepared to purchase a new or refurbished phone as a liquid damaged phone cannot be repaired.
