Animated album artwork is not working

Here are several ways you can do if animated album artwork is not working in iOS 17.

First, ensure your Apple Music animated cover art is enabled by default. Check if it is disabled. Then, you need to enable it.

Animated cover art is only work for selected music as it is in its initial phase. So, before searching for the solution, check if your preferred music and album are available for animated album artwork.

If you have enabled Reduce Motion on your iPhone, it can stop animated cover art from working in Apple Music. So, it would be best to turn off the Reduce Motion feature on your iPhone. To disable Reduce Motion, Go to Settings >>> Click on Accessibility >>> Select Motion, >>> Turn off Reduce Motion.

The Increase Contrast accessibility feature increases the visibility of your graphics. It may cause your Animated Album Artwork to fail to work. So, try to turn it off. Go to Settings >>> Select Accessibility >>> Click on Display & Text Size >>> Turn off Increase Contrast.

That's it. It will work if you make these small changes.

If Reduce Motion is enabled on your device then per Reduce screen motion on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch:

"When Reduce Motion is on, certain screen effects change or are disabled on your device, including:

• Screen transitions and effects use the dissolve effect instead of zoom or slide effects.
• Parallax effect where your wallpaper, apps, and alerts that move or shift slightly as you tilt your device are disabled.
• Animation and effects in certain apps are disabled. For example, weather animations in the Weather app."

It would be necessary to disable that feature to see animated album art.

It's also a good idea to check if you have other display changes such as the default zoom level, color alterations etc and turn those off as well to isolate this behavior. You can also verify the artwork should be animated by viewing the album on another device at Apple Music.

Hi! Had this same problem and just figured out why mine wasn’t working: my phone was on low battery mode lol, in settings it says that it won’t animate if your phone has low battery or poor network connection.
