Photos is storing the photos and videos in a library, a relational database. The Photos.app will create a basic structure for the user interface, to help us to import photos, edit the photos and tag them with metadata, or to access them to work with them. This basic structure cannot be changed, but will cover already many common needs.
We can built our own structure on top of the basic structure by defining folders, albums, or smart albums and keywords. Before we start, we should make a plan, how we want to use the photos, then plan the layout of our own folder and albums.
