loss of uploaded CD's in ITunes

Did anyone ever come up with an answer / solution as to why early uploaded CD's have been deleted from ITunes and how we restore ?

ITunes initially promoted themselves as a way to store and keep all our old treasured music and we were actively encouraged to declutter by selling our CD's...........now they appear to have screwed us by deleting anything not purchased via Apple Store

Please reassure me that there is a way of recovering music............fortunately I have all tracks on my VERY OLD Ipod but am concerned that once that decides to die I will loose everything as I don't appear to be able to restore from Ipod to PC

In addition I have just purchased a new IPad 10 but am unable to play anything not purchased on itunes store on that either - a complete con

Any suggestions welcomed

Hi,

iTunes Match and Apple Music has never been promoted as a backup of your existing music. The main principle ITunes Match was to allow you to match your music with that contained on Apple’s servers and allow you access you music via iCloud Music library across your other devices. Apple recommended that you backup your existing music before subscribing.
