Can’t add to Apple Wallet

Over the past few weeks I’ve noticed that I cannot add membership cards to my wallet (one example is Priority Pass from Amex). The vendor had a button to add my card to my wallet, but I get an error that either says “can’t add to wallet right now, try again later” or says something like “that action cannot be completed “. I’ve never had this issue in the past and all of a sudden it doesn’t work. This isn’t a vendor issue, it’s an Apple issue.


Does anyone else have this issue and know how to fix it?

Thanks Jeff. I tried to update software and it says what I have is the latest, so I can't do that. I was trying to avoid deleting the wallet, just because it's a pain to re-add everything (I assume I'd have to re-add the 2 dozen cards, correct?). Given everything I have in there, I'm not convinced it's worth it to me. I'll try logging out and doing the forced reset without deleting the app and see what happens.

Ok, there is a newer update available. I doubt that is the issue though. Up to you if you want to install it. If you call Apple, they’ll tell you to install.


Have you deleted the Wallet app yet? If not, that’s the next step and again, Apple will tell you to do it. I prefer logging out of Apple ID, doing a forced restart, deleting Wallet app, logging back into Apple ID and then downloading a fresh copy of the Wallet app and try adding cards.

I reached out to Priority Pass via Twitter and here’s their reply. If you’re savvy about adding passes, I’d just wait and try when they’ve got their code fixed.

“Thanks for your message. We are aware that some members are unable to add their card to their Apple wallet. This is being looked into and we'll let you know as soon as this has been resolved.”

Found a nice little work-around, guys. If someone has already mentioned this, I apologize for any redundancy. So…I saved the image of the digital Priority Pass that COULD have been and SHOULD have been added to my Apple Wallet. Then I downloaded the app Pass4U. I created a custom template for the pass, added the card details by choosing that image with the QR code and it propitiated into the Pass4U app. It let me add logos and colors and blah blah blah. Most important, when I finished and pulled up the finished pass I clicked on the “wallet” in the upper right hand corner and it then added THAT to my wallet. Not exactly what apple would have done, but since their way doesn’t work at the moment with this card, This, in my mind, is the next best thing. I’ll be landing at hartsfield in a few hours and I’m going to give it a try. 👊🤞🏻🤙🤞🏻🙌🤘🏻🤌🖖🏻🫰

Thanks Maurice but I’ve done all of that. It’s happens with every vendor so I know it’s not the vendor. I’ve added many cards in the past so I know it’s not my region. I’ve soft and hard rebooted my phone. I’m not wasting my time calling vendors. None of these are an “approval” type of thing like a credit card. There’s something blocking apps from adding membership cards to my wallet.


Do I need to call Apple support and get this escalated??

Yes, when the Wallet app is deleted all the data pretty much goes out with it. About all that might remain is loyalty cards. Generally any tickets or vouchers will be deleted also. It’s a security/safety thing.


Logging out of Apple ID will also delete cards from Wallet, but the app remains. If you go that far, you might as well delete the app too. But that’s me. Either way you’re logging out an losing cards.

Hi Jeff. I honestly can’t remember what other loyalty card I was trying to add but if I run across it and it doesn’t load I’ll let you know. Priority Pass still isn’t loading, but I guess I’ll have to wait for the next update from them.
